Cutting Horse is pleased to announce its investment in Freestyle Snacks and partnership with founder Nikki Seaman.

A familiar category ready for a new format

Olives and pickles have long been part of the American pantry, but the category was built around jars, brine, and the olive bar. Those formats work at home. They are less suited to the way consumers increasingly snack throughout the day.

Freestyle saw an opportunity to make a familiar whole food portable, flavorful, and easy to enjoy anywhere. The company is not asking consumers to learn a new category. It is giving an established one a format that better fits modern life.

Why Freestyle

Freestyle makes olives and pickles portable, flavorful, and easy to understand. Its single-serve pouches remove the mess while protecting what makes the product appealing in the first place. The brand uses high-quality ingredients, bold flavor combinations, and packaging that creates immediate energy at the shelf.

We believe the strongest format innovations expand an occasion without asking consumers to abandon what they already like about the category. Freestyle does exactly that. The product can live in a lunch bag, desk drawer, gym bag, or airport carry-on.

Why Nikki

Nikki Seaman started Freestyle after the pandemic closed the olive bars she loved. That personal frustration led to a broader insight: consumers wanted the product, but the existing format created unnecessary friction.

We are drawn to founders who see a category clearly enough to simplify it. Nikki has built a brand that explains itself quickly while giving consumers a reason to return. Her clarity, product instinct, and ambition are central to why we chose to partner with Freestyle.

What comes next

Cutting Horse was created to support founders with operating experience as well as capital. We will work with the Freestyle team as it grows distribution, protects product quality, strengthens its operating foundation, and makes disciplined choices about where the brand expands next.

We are excited to partner with Nikki and the Freestyle team as they introduce more consumers to a simple idea: olives and pickles can be a genuinely great snack.
